Alicia began teaching instruments through keen interest from students, their friends and family!
A multi-instrumentalist, she has taught guitar, saxophone and piano for six years.

ALICIA IS CURRENTLY NOT TAKING ON NEW INSTRUMENTAL STUDENTS
Apart from the use of her piano, Alicia doesn't provide instruments for lessons.
She is more than happy to offer advice on purchasing your guitar, saxophone, or piano.
GUITAR LESSONS
Since stealing her brother's guitar at 14, Alicia has become a creative guitarist who has performed both in rock bands and as an acoustic singer/songwriter. Alicia began teaching guitar to students who wished to accompany themselves whilst singing. She now provides lessons for guitarists and singers alike.

WHAT ABILITY DO YOU TEACH?
Alicia teaches beginner and intermediate guitar to students of all ages.

ACOUSTIC or ELECTRIC?
Alicia plays both, however, for beginners and for singers, acoustic is the more popular option.

WHAT IS A LESSON LIKE?
Alicia offers a mixture of techniques and styles so students can develop freedom in their playing. Lessons combine technical exercises with a 'song project' of the student's choice. She believes in the importance of learning music theory in order to understand why we play the way we do and ensures it is included in an easily approachable, fun manner.

DO YOU TEACH GRADES?
Alicia doesn't class herself as a 'grade teacher', much preferring to focus on developing good technique and playing for enjoyment. However, Alicia is more than happy to accommodate those who wish to achieve grades.

CAN I COMBINE MY GUITAR LESSON WITH SINGING?
Of course! This is a popular option.

SAXOPHONE LESSONS
Inspired as a child by none other than Lisa Simpson, Alicia began teaching herself Alto saxophone aged 8 and continued to play throughout her childhood. After receiving 3 months of lessons, she achieved her Grade 5 in Jazz Alto Saxophone aged 15 before moving on to achieve her Grade 8 a year later. Alicia continued her Jazz studies at university and now plays live as part of a duo.

WHAT ABILITY DO YOU TEACH?
Alicia teaches beginner Alto saxophone up to a Grade 5 standard.

DO YOU TEACH GRADES?
Alicia doesn't class herself as a 'grade teacher', much preferring to focus on developing good technique and playing for enjoyment. Having gone through the grading system herself, Alicia is more than happy to accommodate those who wish to achieve grades.

DO YOU TEACH TENOR/BARITONE/SOPRANO?
At this moment in time, Alicia only offers Alto saxophone lessons.

WHAT IS A LESSON LIKE?
Lessons contain a mixture of technical exercises and a creative 'song project' of the student's choice. Alicia believes students are more likely to carry on and enjoy playing if they are working on a piece that they choose to play. She also believes in the importance of equipping students with musical theory and does so in an easily approachable manner.
PIANO LESSONS
After being approached by various students who wished to learn piano to expand their musical understanding and accompany themselves while singing, Alicia now provides beginner piano lessons.

WHAT ABILITY DO YOU TEACH?
Alicia is the perfect teacher for complete beginners or those with basic playing ability who are now looking for guidance.

DO YOU TEACH GRADES?
Alicia is more than happy to prepare students who wish to take grades, however, she doesn't class herself as a 'grade teacher'. Instead, Alicia takes the pressure off of students, focusing on developing good technique and playing for enjoyment!

After popular demand with students wanting to take their performing to the next level, Alicia now offers songwriting lessons. With a strong understanding of musical theory, a creative ear, and a talent for writing, Alicia can critique and advise you on your unique musical venture.

As a singer/songwriter, Alicia has often received recognition for her songwriting abilities, including being selected as part of Roundhouse's Young Songwriters 2015, an experience that saw her workshop with songwriters who have collaborated with the likes of Adele.

Alicia is able to advise you on how and even introduce you to specific recording techniques within the lesson.
